There were a lot of things I liked about this book, and once I got into it I plowed through it really fast. There wasn't any downtime when the plot wasn't moving forward, and the characters all had great chemistry. The magic/treasure map part of the plot was silly and unnecessary to me. I wish they'd left that out and just had them trying to get home after the shipwreck be the main plotline. I don't think that part of the story was written very well, and I didn't find it compelling in the slightest. It is the characters that carry this story. Camille is an interesting character, and the journey (meaning mentally and emotionally) that she takes isn't an easy one. She finds a lot out about her family's past that shocks her. Thank goodness she has Oscar to help her along. Speaking of Oscar: he is the real reason I enjoyed the book as much as I did. He is the most fleshed-out and interesting character by far, and I loved him. He was so capable and alluring: I dare you to read this book and not have a thing for him.So, I had some mixed feelings about this one. Overall though, I have to say that I enjoyed it. It isn't a book I'll ever read again but I'm not sorry I picked up a copy from the library to read.
