Emily and Colin are back in action in the newest installment of the Lady Emily series: A Crimson Warning by Tasha Alexander. You guys, I absolutely love this series! A Crimson Warning actually stands out as one of my favorites – I’m so glad that Tasha Alexander just keeps getting better! This is historical mystery and romance at its best, my friends.Doorways of the homes of London’s elite are being mysteriously painted red. Shortly thereafter, a scandal involving someone in the household is unearthed. When murder gets added in to the mix, Colin is dispatched to figure out who is behind it all. Emily is, of course, determined to help him. They make such a great detecting team! I love seeing them work together in A Crimson Warning.Emily is also involved in other activities that complicate things further – such as pursuing the vote for women. Colin is always so great at letting her do what she is passionate about. He just wants her to be safe and happy. I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – he is my #1 book crush. Delectable.I think one of Tasha Alexander’s chief goals with this series is to highlight the capabilities of a strong female during this time period. She definitely pulls it off with Lady Emily Hargreaves!It is so great to have A Crimson Warning set back in London. The past two books were set in other locations, and having everyone back on home turf is a welcome change! The museums, art, politics and literature that Emily surrounds herself with are never more evident than when she is at home.This is a series you have to pick up. Fans of Deanna Raybourn and Lauren Willig will feel at home with these characters. Start with And Only to Deceive and immerse yourself in the world of Emily and Colin! And although I do absolutely recommend starting at the beginning, you can pick up A Crimson Warning as a stand-alone if you wish.
