I don't think I could ever dislike something that L.M. Montgomery writes. She created Anne Shirley, my all-time favorite book character as well as Gilbert Blythe, my very first book crush. So, when I pick up one of her books I go into it having already half decided to be in love with it no matter what. Regardless, I think I would have loved this story no matter what.It is easy to relate to Valancy Stirling. She is bullied by her entire family and was taught to repress her thoughts and feelings at all costs. When she reaches the age of twenty-nine however, things change. She grows into herself and takes risks and what comes of it is a very charming and quirky story that has several twists and turns. Most of them (okay, I admit it: all of them) are easy to figure out in advance, but that doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the story. Before you even pick it up, you know what you'll be getting: a sweet little romance story with a happy ending. So just read it and enjoy where the story takes you!I love the title 'The Blue Castle' now that I know what it means. When Valancy was growing up and had no one to talk to or relate to, she escaped in her imagination to her blue castle: the setting of all her daydreams and her mind's ideal of paradise. All of L.M. Montgomery's books that I've read so far feature the importance of imagination, and this book is certainly no exception.If you're a fan of L.M. Montgomery's other books, or are just in the mood for a cute and quick read, you should definitely be on the lookout for a copy of this!
